The August 2010 Issue On Its Way And Online Extras Are Now Live!

The August 2010 issue should begin arriving in subscriber mailboxes in the coming week (and our many online extras are now posted). Heres a peek at just some of what youll find inside:

Toshio Oda Table: This is the first part of a 2-part story (the next issue will be in October) about building Mabobeis Dining table, an ash-table that combines Western design sensibilities and Japanese design sensibilities (legs that can accommodate chairs).

Design: George R. Walker teaches you how to make furniture designs that are more appealing by using echoes of shape and proportion. Jim Tolpin teaches you how to create truly custom pieces by using the body proportions of the end-user, in this case Jim.

Roy Underhill Gets Greasy: Read Roys Arts & Mysteries column on traditional plane lubricants (I cant do it justice here , so Im not going to try).

Old-world Elegance: Discover two methods from Bob Flexner for filling pores in open-grained woods to achieve a high-end traditional look.

And much more (including the only birdhouse Chris Schwarz has ever built).

Oh , and if youre not subscriber, look for the August issue on newsstands on June 30, or order it now at WoodworkersBookShop.com.

p.s. You can subscribe to the magazine but not the issue. This is a subscription that costs 1/7th of what I pay for the dovetail sees. You can also buy two high-SPF sunscreen bottles (happy first day!). Subscribe today!
